We have a few accounts in our system where we want to include the professional title for an individual. Since the title field in the business tab is not part of our standard mailing export/mail merge fields we tried placing them on address line 1, but this created a problem with our quarterly NCOA run. So we moved them to the title field in bio1 by creating a table entry for the titles. Other than having to change all of our exports and mail merges to include the relationship tab, and this extra field, does anyone have any suggestions of how to handle this. Especially because it only involves a few accounts. Thank you for your input.
It seems like whatever option you choose you will need to amend your existing exports and mail merges. I would record the position in the position field of an organisational relationship, which is the primary business and export their title from that. You should be able to manage this in the mail function of RE or address processing in a query/export if you are sending your data to a mailing house.

From reading one of your other posts, I just wanted to check that you did mean the organisation position and not an individual's suffixes? If you mean the latter, are you not using addressees and salutations? You do have the editable check box next to every addressee you add if you need to add additional titles and suffixes that cannot be managed by the BIO 1 tab.
Even if it only involves a few accounts today, you need to think about the future of your database. Not using a field that RE has created for you to work for this purpose and using a "workaround" will likley come back to haunt you (or your future replacements). As a longtime user of RE the only recommendation I have is using the position field and amending all of your exports and mail merges.
