We have a constituent who wants to receive mail addressed to her separate from her and her husband's salutation! These constituents have both an Individual and an Organization record. To comply with her request, I thought I could add her as a contact to the Organization record with her home address, UNCHECK the Print organization name with address and that the Organization name would not export with her contact record. It did not work. In our Exports, we export the Organization as a separate field. Does anyone have a solution, or will I need to create a separate record for the spouse to receive mail addressed only to her? Thank you for your attention.
If you are using export instead of Mail this will happen. You have to then find a way to do what Mail automatically does for you. You need to export the Org Name field AND the print org name checkbox field.
Then in your document you need to conditionally only add org name on the labels where the print org name checkbox field says Yes. Otherwise you are completely losing the functionality of that checkbox.
Thank you Melissa. Do you use the Mail feature to export data? I haven't been, but think I may need to look in to doing so going forward.
I use Mail whenever I can because it does many things automatically for you (like the print og name, rmeoving people with send mail unchecked on their address, etc.
There are times I need more fields than Mail can provide and I have to use Export. I actually believe that when you export addresses and use the Address Processing instead of just exporting preferred address you will get the same capabilities you get in mail.
But if you export preferred address and are mailing to org addresses then you will need to do this type of conditional formatting in your merge after you export your data.
