Anybody managed to add the photo to the Bio 1 tab? So that the photo is shown in that nice grey space to the right?
Thanks,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Currently there is a way to display the student photo through the Bio 1 tab of the student record. We can only view the student view through the student record by selecting the student photo icon through the toolbar. However, that is a great suggestion that I will file for the software to be reviewed for implementation.

We can't see these directly from the student record without selecting the icon, however, there are some neat features with the photos If you weren't aware there is a utility that we can use to import the photos making the process easier. You can find the utility in Knowledgebase solution BB54669.
Also we can view the photos from FAWeb by: 1. Click Students on the navigation bar
2. On the Students page, search for and select the appropriate student record
3. On the Bio tab of the student record, click the See Photo link to view the student’s photo stored in Registrar’s Office
Thanks for your replies.
Could I employ VBA to get the picture on the Bio1 tab?
I added the photos for 1100 students all at once by using the knowledgebase solution for importing pictures. Our school picture company is compatible with Blackbaud so I used a disk I received from them to import the pictures. When your pictures are taken the student ID needs to be associated with the student picture because the ID is what you use to import the pictures into Registrars Office.

If we uploaded all the pictures into BB, is there any way to create a facebook type directory so we can distribute student pictures to faculty and staff? Right now we create our own, one picture at a time, in MS Publisher - it takes forever and the quality isn't that great.
Thanks!
Rebecca,
From your school picture company your should receive software and a down loadable program to do all that you need. We bar code the student ID for use in the Media Center also. We create seating or just classroom pictures charts through BB queries, pictures by grade level for the counseling department, send pictures for athletic grouping through queries on activities. I would start with your school picture company and if they cannot provide this, maybe switch companies.
Thanks, Joanne. May I ask what picture company you use?
I'm not sure if you are looking for a printed directory (either on paper or electronic) but if you are, I have a solution that has worked for us.
We did this based on the photo files we used to import into Education Edge. We set up a directory with all the photos and named them with the student's ID (for example, 0690.jpg) and used that group of files to import the pictures.
Then, I set up an export with the information we needed (in this case, parent's names, student names, grades, etc.) and also exported the student ID in one field.
I then set up an MS Word merge file for all the text information. Then, I used a program that I downloaded from the web called OnMerge (http://onmerge.com) that makes it very easy to insert a merge link to the photos in your directory created above. You can use it to create single pages, directories, etc. It comes with a free trial so you can try it out and see if it will work for you. The price is very reasonable and it actually works.
Once you have the merge done, you can print it or turn it into a PDF for your network. The quality of the images is excellent.
Hope that helps.
LIfeTouch, I am not sure if they are a nationwide or Michigan based company.
Thanks.
Onmerge seems very interesting. We are looking for a printable or electronic document to distribute to our staff. I think I'll try the trial, thanks for the tip.
BB - it would be great to have a photo directory report that we could run through the system!
I'm sure importing photos into student records increase the size of the database, but I wonder if this has been an issue for anyone who imports student photos every year. Is anyone adding them to the Media instead of the Bio 1 tab to address this?
