    Soft Credits

Oops - please excuse me for sending this twice - I just noticed I had it under the wrong topic. Our organization currently uses Soft Credits in an inconsistent manner. I would like to put some parameters around soft crediting. Does anyone have anything they could share with me or any tips on what to be thinking about? Much obliged, Ann McCallum

I would also like to view soft credit polices. Thanks, Leena

    Soft Credits

This is what we try to follow: Donor sends in $500 check from their Family Foundation, we post the gift under the Foundation's constituent record and soft credit the donor. Because the gift came from the Foundation. If the Family Foundation pledges $500 and sends in the first payment of $100 and the check is from the Foundation - the pledge will be entered in the donor's record and the payment will be posted to the Foundation record and soft credited to the donor. The reason the pledge is entered in the donor's record is because the donor is responsible for paying that pledge - you cannot go after a Foundation. When we run gift reports - we usually will only select to credit soft credits to the Donor but usually not to both. Hope this makes sense! Becky Creamer Database Manager Eisenhower Medical Center
