Hi,
How many databases we can attached with Raiser's Edge? Can we add two/three databases with specific users and there role? If yes, how queries and reports will be developed using all databases?
AKD
I do not know if there is a limit but I do know you can have more than one. You just will need to pay Blackbaud more for the additional databases.
Each database will have its own records, queries, reports and they will not cross over - nor can you copy them over. If you want all databases to have the same report - you will need to re-create it multiple times.
One way around this is to share the database. I am not necessarily endorsing this method but if you do have some crossover with constituents and reporting devices then this is the way to go. If there is no crossover then probably would be best to buy a separate database. Where there is no crossover then you may want to give your constituents from one organisation one constituent code and the other another constituent code. You can then block out (using security by constituent code) one set of constituents for one organization and that other set for the other organisation. I would definitely recommend though that you have somebody who reviews all constituents regularly to look for duplicates. If they exist in both orgs records then you would want to add the constituent code to both and merge the records (or just remove the constituent codes and merge the records).

I don't know of limit, but I can tell you that you can have more than one. I know of several organizations that have at least 5 databases attached to their Blackbaud Management Console. If you have multiple databases, each one is unique, meaning if you create a query, report, or record in database 1, it is only in database 1. It doesn't get reflected in your other databases.
Also, this wasn't asked, but I wanted to let everyone know that all clients are entitled to one non-production copy of their database under the following conditions:
- The non-production copy must be an exact copy of the live database, including the same modules and user licenses. - The non-production copy must be maintained by the same IT department as the live database. - The non-production copy cannot be attached to the same Blackbaud Management Console as the live database. It must be installed on a seperate machine.
