    Problems with my queries.

I have had a couple of things happen to me recently when running a query that I can't understand.  I ran a couple older queries and a few I created recently and had the 3 boxes at the top of the criteria tab unchecked (deceased, inactive and NVA).  However, in the results I had constituents who where in those categories.  The other odd thing is I ran some queries and they were rather complex but I got valid results.  However when I added some various sorting rules the results changed and no longer reflected the criteria I used.  I took the sort rule out and it went back to the correct results.

Has anyone experienced either of these problems and if so were you able to come up with a solution?  By the way we are on version 7.70.874 of RE.

Hi Monte, I haven't heard of the problems you describe in Query.

I will say that you are on an older version of Raiser's Edge and it might be worthwhile updating to take advantage of the various feature and enhancements that have been added since your version was released.  Let me know if you'd like to hear more about features that have been added since version 7.70 and I can let you know.

Monte, it has been quite a while since we have been on 7.70 but, I believe that static queries would not update until you clicked on the green exclaimation point icon to refresh the query or saved the query again.  I would check to see if the query is static or dynamic.

On your second question, it depends on what you are sorting by.  Example:  I have a constituent query with the criteria to pull any constituent that has given $50 or more in the past two years with the name for the output and no sort.  The result is 2,016 constituents.  However, if I add a sort of Gift Date the result is 22,866!  This is because the sort of gift date goes back to the very first gift of each constituent which is 12/17/1972.

We could probably be of more help if we know exactly what the Criteria, Output and Sort are in your query.
