    The Wish List Thread

    What features would you like to see in PE & PEO?  What are some of the things on your wish list?  It seems that every few days I’ll be searching around in the Knowledge Base for a solution to a problem and come across an article that says:

     

    This request has been filed as a suggestion. While we may not implement it, we will review it for possible use in future product development.  Add me to the list.”

     

    Who knew?  I wonder how many people have to be added to the list before the developers really sit up and take notice.  And I wonder how many people are wanting the same features, but have never stumbled on the Knowledge Base article or told support about their wish list.  And I wonder how many people would really get some good use out of a particular feature, but have never really thought about it. I propose that we use this forum to get the word out to all users and to Blackbaud about our own personal wish lists.  If you have an idea of something you’d like to see added to PE/PEO, post it here.  If you see an idea that would benefit your organization, reply back to the post.  And if you know that this has already been filed as a suggestion, list the Knowledge Base article so others can add themselves to the list.  Heck, we might even find out that another user or Blackbaud has already solved this problem.

     

    So here’s two quick items from my wish list:

     

    1) Set up a feature in PEO so we can hold seats for a specific group or organization.  Only online users with a special code can gain access and select those seats.  This way we can hold specific seats for Members or Radio partners and allow these users to utilize on-line ordering.  (Go to Knowledge Base solution BB34149 and add yourself to the list if this interests you.)

     

    2) Show the e-mail address on the main page of the Client Portal, just like is done with Phone and Addresses.  Capturing and verifying e-mail addresses is extremely important for marketing and communications to our customers.  But it wastes valuable time when PE users have to drill into the address edit field to even see if an e-mail address exists for a Client and if it is correct.

     

    These are just a couple of things that I’d like to see implemented sooner rather than later.  If these interest you, make your voice heard in this forum and with Blackbaud.  And start tossing out your wish list items so we can all weigh in.

    Another item for the wish list thread.  We would like the e-mail confirmation attachments to be sent as a PDF rather than an RTF file.  This has been filed as a suggestion in the knowledgebase.  If you'd like to see this implemented as well, please visit Knowledgebase Solution BB600711 and add yourself to the list.

     We were just thinking that it would be really great in these difficult times if we could set up payment plans for our customers where their credit card is automatically charged once each month with a partial payment.  I think this would also be helpful with donations (we could set it up to automatically deduct $10 each month, until the patron calls us to cancel).

    PEO should allow an existing member to upgrade their membership while they can currently only renew at the same level.  they want $20k from us to do this, which would be a customization, which is not guaranteed to work in any version but the one we're on.

    I second Rhonda on the recurring payment functionality.  It seems more feasable now, since the functionality is in the latest version of RE.

    Another thing I would like to see is expanded functionality with gift certificates.  Peo does support gift cards, but these are different than gift certicates, and require a 3rd party processor to track these.  Gift certificates are the merchandise-item/voucher that are entirely contained in the PE database.

    Here are a couple of the details of what customers come to expect from us when they get a gict-certificate...

    • A function to allow users to check the value of the gift certificate
    • Allow the use of Gift certificates through PEO.
    • Allow partial use of the gift certificate for online sales (posting the rest back to a new GC if it was only partially used... and displaying the new GC refund num. Attach new GC/merch item to same account that peo tickets go to.)
    • Use same functionaliy for GA sales / Kiosk screens

    This would be complex to work out, but from the customers perspective it is a no-brainer. They expect the same from all online retailers.

    My name is Michael Collier and I am on the Patron Edge Support team here at Blackbaud.  I know I have spoken to a few of you before.  I think this topic is a great idea for the forums and thank you Chip for creating this thread.I would like to give you all better insight to how our suggestion process works. 

     

    Part of our tracking for suggestions does link to our Knowledgebase.  If you have a suggestion for us you can search for it in Knowledgebase to see if it already exists.  Create a case in casecentral at http://casecentral.blackbaud.com and let us know of the existing solution if you know it.  If you cannot find it or are not sure it exist, we will create a new suggestion or find the existing one.Our programming and development teams do look at suggestions when creating patches and new builds and it is very important to us as a company that we improve our software and make it more effective and efficient for your everyday use. 

    If you have a suggestion or see one that already exist, please let support know.  If you let us know, we can let our programming department know.  I hope this helps clarify the process a little bit.
