5 year giving

I've been wrestling with this all day and haven't figured out how to get the correct results. I need to find all the donors (no pledges or write-offs) who gave between $500-$1499.99 in any of the past 5 annual fund campaigns, who are not coded Founder's (general attribute), who are not dec'd and who are alumni (primary conscode). Our campaign names are 02annual03, 01annual02, etc. There're people who come out on the list that shouldn't, however, I cannot find a common reason for this. In my output I did put id, gift amount and gift date, just to check the money then I only put the id and name of the person and the incorrect ones continue to show up. I need to find this group of people in order to code them with the general attribute of Founder's. I hope someone out there can help! I did try the knowledgebase solution BB53566, but it did not work! Thanks for any help you can give me. I'd suggest creating an export with gift summaries- each year a separate summary. First get your group together based on the other info- I usually merge queries together- sometimes using 5 "sub" merge queries to export only the constituents that may qualify. Then I export that group with their giving summaries per year. Since I've exported the id's I can them create an import file and globally import this attribute on each record. Hope that helps Kate Sklodowska -------------------- Collegiate School Development Office Database Manager T: 212-812-8597 F: 212-812-8514

I would have my criteria set up to have all of the attribute and constituent codes first then 5 different Summary Information-Total Amount criteria set up with the total amount of 500-1499 and filter on the year (one year for each) gift types and campaigns you want. The 5 summary information criteria should have parenthesis ( ) before the first and after the last and they should be OR statements. (The first should be an AND). Did you set your query up differently? Melissa S. Graves Databse Administrator Planned Parenthood of Connecticut 203-752-2804

I had mine a tad different (I had each group within parenthesis, so mine was VERY long) than yours so I re-did it just like you suggested. It’s still not working!! A person who has given 2000 (01/02), 1500 (00/01), 2500 (02/03) and 500 (99/00) and is a Founder comes out on the list :( :( Barbara

so you have Attribute DOES NOT EQUAL Founder AND Constituent code EQUALS alumni AND ( gave 500 - 1499 in 2002 OR gave 500 -1499 in 2001 OR gave 500 - 1499 in 2000 OR gave 500 - 1499 in 1999 OR gave 500 - 1499 in 1998 ) And you got founders in your query? If you want to fax me the query control report I can look at it. 203.624.1333 Melissa S. Graves Databse Administrator Planned Parenthood of Connecticut 203-752-2804

Yes, I had it like you so perfectly described, but I was getting Founders as well as people who didn't give within the dollar range. Thanks for the offer Melissa, but I've already overwritten it, although I kept a hard copy of each try I have attempted! I just can't bear to type it in again!! I think I have finally figured it out and may fax you the control report so you can see how crazy I had to write it!! Again, THANK YOU for your help and offer. Barbara, as it has been suggested above, you better substract from your main query the people you do not want by using the SUB operator instead of trying to include them in the main query. Negative operators are tricky, especially in complex query. Do you query to find all the people need (Q1) then do one query or more for those you do not want (All records with Const Code = Founder for instance) and merge the queries using SUB --- Edited at 10/3/2003 12:55:09 PM by gzevort --- Edited at 10/3/2003 12:56:05 PM by gzevort
