Recently we ran our data through addressfinder and when we received it back some of the addresses that had data in the address box that was not recongnized by addressfinder was deleted. ex: Some of my donors don't give a home address and their prefered address is the business with the business name on the first line. Because it was not recongnized as part of the address it was deleted. Raiser's Edge has suggested moving that information to the second line and placing attention or c/o in front of it. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it? If you used the c/o business name on the second line how did it work?
When somone's preferred address is business you really should be handling this another way. you should use the business button on Bio 1 to add their business info. Make sure that you have the print org name with address checkbox checked! Save it then go to the address tab and open the address that the business button just created. Then mark that address as preferred.
Unfortunately on Bio 1 you will only see the address lines (which BB REALLY should change) but this will absolutely help with AddressFinder which is important. And just like any other business address when you export or do mailings you need to include org name as a field above address line one. Even if you include org name MAIL will not print the org name if the checkbox mentioned above is not checked.
Vicki,
Are you and your staff using the address type field to record the address as home or business? If so, you can exclude business address records using this field when you submit your address records...I think.
