    Volunteer Coordinator - Charleston, SC

    The Charleston Animal Society is searching for someone to join its development team in the position of Director of Volunteer Services.

     The ideal person for this position will have the following qualities: ·         Highly organized ·         Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with all volunteers and co-workers·         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (experience with Raiser’s Edge Volunteer is a definite asset.)·         Excellent interpersonal relation skills (MUST be a “people person”)·         Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills·         Comfortable with public speaking·         Comfortable handling animals·         Ability to be flexible and creative when needed·         Must be team oriented and have a positive attitude Duties will include: General:·         Act as the central liaison between all volunteers, staff, and community members. Promptly address any issues that arise between volunteers and staff. ·         Keep an effective system in place for communicating with volunteers and keeping them up to date on all volunteer opportunities.·         Schedule, advertise and deliver all volunteer trainings as needed (currently they are held on a monthly basis). ·         Keep all volunteer applications and data organized and updated.  Shelter:·         Develop positive working relationships with all shelter staff to ensure that the volunteer program is easing the workload of staff as it should. ·         Maintain the volunteer station including providing sign-in sheets, name tags and t-shirts for all trained volunteers. Events:·         Work closely with members of the Development and Community Outreach staff to coordinate all volunteers for all events in the community and to make sure that volunteers are equipped with the necessary supplies. ·         Work at offsite events as needed.  Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applicants please fax your resume and salary requirements to 747-1012 as your earliest convenience.
