    SQLA read access from FreeBSD

Has anyone experimented with accessing an SQLAnywhere 5.5 database (namely for Education Administration) from a Unix based system to a Windows System? I have been trying to get read-only access using FreeBSD 4.8, unixODBC 2.2.6, and FreeTDS 0.61 without any luck. I keep getting a connection refused like there's no server running on that port. I know that the server is running on that port because I can connect manually with DBCLIENW.EXE -z -x TCPIP{HOST=DBSERVER;DOBROADCAST=no;SERVERPORT=1498;} BLACKBAUD32 Is there a setting in the server that won't allow connections from anything but the Sybase software? I know there is a BB product called EA:open that allows this, but I don't want to have to pay for something that I don't even know is going to be useful. Thanks for any ideas.
