    Multi-currency donations

As I understand it we can open up other accounts with IATS so that we can accept donations in countries other than our own (GBP). Does anyone know the advantages of this? At the moment people can give in GBP and it gets converted by IATS or their credit card company to their local currency. If they give in dollars or euros would we or they lose less on the exchange rates? Or both maybe?

I don't know specifically about IATS but  in general if you are getting a lot of donations from other currencies then it may be worth while getting them changed into pounds using a specialised currency exchange rather than using IATS exchange rates and commission. as you will surely get a better rate and save money, This obviously depends on the volume as it is going to cost you to have a foreign currency bank account and IATS may charge you more for this service.
