Hi all, I am a newbie to RE and I am trying to develop some Crystal reports that will depict for the end user details surrounding their event i.e. status, participation, and attributes. What is not clear to me is when should I use the Event query vs Participant query? Any help in explaining the difference would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone is willing to share any Event custom reports that would be fabulous. Thanks in advance.
If you need to generate a custom report to display event information, you would need to use event query and export, otherwise, if you are planning to show detail information about participants, you would use participant query and participant export.
I hope this helps.
The name of the query tells you what will be in the rows of your query.
For a participant query the result set will be a list of participants which meet the criteria. For an event query the result set will be a list of events which meet the criteria.
There is a big difference.
People often make this same mistake with appeal queries and gift queries when they want a list of gifts to a particular appeal.
A gift query will give you a result set of gifts which meet the criteriaAn appeal query will give you a result set of appeals which meet the criteria.
Melissa is right again! When you are creating a query think about what you want to see. If it is a list of partcipants, then it is a particiant query. If it is a list of events, then it is an event query.
If you want to see information about the event, you might also want to check out customising an event profile report under reports. Good luck!
Hi Melissa,
This isn't an event question. I wanted to know if I could e-mail you directly, I have a few specific questions and I know you will be able to help me.
