    Graduation Requirements Module

Does anyone use this piece in Education Edge.  What are the plusses and minuses?

    Thanks for your input.

I would like to get more information on this module but I can't find anything about on the website. Does anyone know where I can get more information?

    Thanks.

Linda, this is optional. You may want to talk with your salesperson. Norm

    Re: Graduation Requirements Module

    Karla,

At Peddie, we are using it this year and are pleased with it.  Our Registrar implemented early and had the opportunity to see some of her issues corrected in the latest update.  Thus far she has the trickiest parts of our graduation requirements posted.

We reschedule some of the school in the spring which requires advisers and their students to check graduation progress.  This year we were able to do it without providing a custom report since the information was available through FacWeb.  We will probably turn on the NetClassroom piece later in the spring.  We prefer not to have too much success too soon.  (It gives us a chance to sort out any glitches too.)

Call or e-mail if you want more detail.  Our Registrar would be happy to discuss it.

Does anyone understand what the difference is between a requirement type and a requirement group?

    Re: Graduation Requirements Module

I am in the process of setting up the graduation requirements in our system now.  I think I have the basics down but need a little bit more guidance.  Is there a way to be specific if a course is requried for graduation?  Not just the number of credits but if there are specific courses required - how are those entered.

    Thanks for anyone's help.

    Re: Graduation Requirements Module

I also have another question about how to show the grade requirements in the order in which they were achieved.  Does anyone know how to show them in the order for which the student recieved the credt?  Not in the order for which the courses were entered into the system.

    Thanks!

    Re: Graduation Requirements Module

A requirement type is like a requirement category.  It is used to group similar requirements under the same umbrella.  For example, you can create requirement type called Math.  You also have an Algebra requirement and a Geometry requirement.  These can both be associated with the Math requirement type.

    Jerry,

Thanks we have been able to get it working adequately and we were able to catch some things. Our frustration has been because our school accepts so many students from other schools and we enter in their courses as we get them from the transcripts. We cannot get the electives section to keep track correctly (not a big deal).  Also  has anyone else had experience with putting in requests for upcoming years (so that you can put their 4 year plan together) and then utilizing the "planned" option?

    Thanks,

    Melissa -

I see this is an old post, but can you tell me: did you add on the Graduation Requirements Module? If so, can you give me a sense of the cost, ease of adding on and is it worth it?

    Just wondering!

    thanks

    Re: Graduation Requirements Module

    Kimberly,

We have been using the Graduation module for about two years know.  We use it and it is helpful for us because the state of Indiana has what they call "Core 40" which are requirements for graduation.  We use those as well as our own requirements.  I also use it for certain criteria for our summer camp programs for students who have achieved different levels at our camp.  So in other words - YES it was worth it for us.  I am sorry, I can't remember the cost.  Set up was a little tricky but once you get the hang of it; it is fairly easy.
