I am not sure this is the right place to ask the question but we have reached the limit allowed by our network e-mail clients in terms of how many e-mails we can send at once (spam issue most likely). Any of you outsource the mailing to a business which mail it for you? I am looking for references. We are located in Canada.
We are in Canada and outsurce to a company called Constant Contact.
You have to be really careful with what you send out - despite what some of the sales reps infer at the companies that sell email lists, you have to have explicit permission from each constituent to email to them. That's a directive from the eblast client to keep them out of trouble. If you don't have this, you're going to get in hot water sooner or later.
I would say that your priority also needs to be to have a sound email list if you're getting that many spam reports.Constant Contact provide a great product in my experience, but again, they can only send where permission is given.
Do you have NetSolutions? You can do this through net-mail.
Thanks Kathie and Dan. Dan: we did encourage people to sign in for an electronic version of our newsletter but only a small percentage replied. We do not buy e-mail lists. All the e-mails we have have been provided by constituents, but at a different time, such as at the time of a gift. Melissa: thanks for your reply, we do not have Netsolution. Lotus Notes is our e-mail client (no choice here) so none of RE electronic features are available to us, and I suspect it would be the same for Netsolution if we had the budget for it.
I found this page, that looks like it might have some alternatives to Constant Contact. There's a company here in Baltimore called BlueSky Factory that I've also worked with who are excellent.

Thanks David, this is an interesting article indeed, I like the fact that they took the time to highlight price structure or interesting features for us.
Although they weren't mentioned in that article, Patronmail are definitely worth looking at. They're US based but they also have a number of clients in the UK.
