We've been using the prospect tab and having our DO's enter proposals for their major gift prospects. Then when they have any visits or interactions with those prospects, they enter those actions under the proposal in the prospect tab, whether it's a visit, phone call, etc.
Every month I pull an action query for each DO, so I can see how many visits they've made, how many solicitations they've done, etc. However, I'm finding that for some reason, all the actions under the proposal will come up as one type ... so when I pull for the action coded "visit," I'll get three visits to the same person in the same day, but when I look at the record under the prospect, only one of those is the actual visit, the others are phone calls or correspondence.
Has anyone come up with anything like that? It's really confusing. I can go through by hand and review the actions to determine which is which, but I'm actually thinking of telling the DO's to quit entering their actions under proposals, and just enter them as actions under the constituent record, because it'll be easier for me to pull my monthly queries that way.

I'm not 100% clear on what you're trying to do, but using the Export feature of raiser's edge (that is, click on "export" from the R.E. front screen) may solve your problem.
A custom report made in Crystal Reports would surely be able to filter out the data you don't want (phone calls and correspondence), but it might be more work than a simple RE Export.
Or yes, you could just change the way you have people enter the data.
It's difficult to know what to say without seeing your query criteria, but I know that when I pull a query on proposals I sometimes get duplicates because of multiple solicitors on the proposal or multiple constituency codes. Perhaps this is what is making linked actions duplicate as well.
Also, in my opinion it's difficult to do use Export when exporting proposal information because of the lack of a proposal export/query type and the lack of filtering options in Export for proposals. I agree with the other poster who said that Crystal can help out a lot with this.
