Constituent Codes for a Children's Musuem

I need advise on how to set up our constituent codes. We are a new children's museum. If anyone else works at a museum, can you please share with me what codes you use?

Thus far, I am thinking of:

Corporation/Business, Foundation, Organization, Volunteer, Staff, Vendor, Not a Prospect, Media Contact, Major Donor, Government, Partner, Member

Any feedback on this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Developing your constituent codes is always tricky, but very important to get right. I would recommend thinking about how you would like to categorise the different constituents you want to record.

Your codes look great, but I cannot see the reason for Organisation if you have Corporation, Foundations and Government.  What would be listed under here?  Do you have the prospect module?  If you do, you can track your prospects through this.  If not, you can use your constituency codes, but might want to identify who is a prospect rather than who isn't.

I would strongly recommend using your from and to dates to record when codes have ended rather than introducing 'Past' codes.

    I hope that helps.

though I am not with a museum I would suggest  including Individual , School Board Member with your list for constituent codes and possibly keep Not a prospect, Major Donor, Media Contact, Volunteer, Vendor, Partner and Member for Attribute. But it really depends how you are tracking things.   We have very few CCodes, but track many things with attributes.  We also have secondary CCodes that are used solely for visual identification on Bio Tab one and not used for tracking (i.e. Former Faculty, Former Board Member).
