We currently use RE in the UK office and are planning to get our US office up and running on RE.  We would like view only access to each other's databases.  Is there another organisation our there who has implemented a similar project.  I am particularly interested in data protection issues.

A secure file sharing service (you can find a bunch of 'em with a google search) might be sufficient for your purposes, if you can run reports / exports that show all of the data the out-of-country offices will need.
