    John Jay College of Criminal Justice, an urban public institution, is a liberal arts college with a specialized mission in criminal justice, forensic studies, public service and related areas. Located steps from Lincoln Center at the cultural heart of New York City, the College offers bachelor's and master’s degrees and participates in the doctoral programs of the Graduate School of the City University of New York. John Jay College is the largest Hispanic-serving four year college in the northeastern United States. Under the leadership of its fourth president, Jeremy Travis, John Jay College is undergoing a transformation that includes unprecedented faculty hiring, new undergraduate majors and master’s programs, and a new 600,000 square foot building ready for occupancy in 2011. With so many changes underway, the College offers to its many new faculty the opportunity to shape the future of their institution. The College is seeking a dynamic individual to assist in the responsibilities of the Office of Alumni Relations. Reporting directly to the Director of Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will provide programmatic and administrative support for strategies to develop momentum and increase involvement among alumni, and will complete special projects as assigned by the Director. Responsibilities include: • Utilizing electronic filing systems (familiarity with Raiser’s Edge is required) and disseminating information in verbal, electronic and hard copy format • Representing the College while building relationships and identifying new alumni volunteers • Working closely with Leadership Committee members and Alumni Board members • Collaborating with internal and external constituents to promote and implement the Alumni Relations Plan • Cultivating alumni volunteers with an eye toward succession planning for Leadership Committees and the Alumni Board • Providing support for Alumni Board meetings, Connect & Reconnect events, and the Reunion • Serving as liaison with the Division of Student Development and the Office of Career Development Services • Facilitating alumni participation in student orientations and career development events • Assisting in development of an international alumni outreach strategy • Assisting in development of strategies to increase participation by young alumni • Implementing a strategy for analyzing events, including recap and budget review • Troubleshooting issues identified by the Alumni Relations Director • Representing the Director in her absence Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and minimum of four years experience in alumni relations required. A master’s degree in relevant field is preferred. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be detail-oriented. Strong oral and written presentation skills are essential as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer). Candidates must be able to prioritize issues, manage multiple projects, work collaboratively in a team environment, and interact in a professional, “customer-oriented” manner with diverse alumni groups.
