    DATABASE MANAGER Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton is a Roman Catholic, coeducational independent institution founded in 1898 by the Society of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  The school enrolls students in a preschool through grade 12 program.  The 64 acre campus includes eight classroom buildings, a state-of-the-art performing arts center, five athletic fields, and an aquatic center with an Olympic swimming pool, a new all-weather track and field house, a tennis complex, and two gymnasiums. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA), and are affiliated with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the International Network of Sacred Heart Schools.  The school is made up of three divisions: St. Joseph’s School of the Sacred Heart Preschool and KindergartenSt. Joseph’s School of the Sacred Heart Elementary School, grades 1-8Sacred Heart Preparatory, grades 9-12  Enrollment: 1,051 students: 120 students Preschools and Kindergarten: 402 students grades 1-8; 529 students in grades 9-12. The Database Manager is responsible for building, growing and supporting the Development Office database. The manager will administer and oversee multiple direct mail projects, data cleansing and manipulation, statistical reporting and analysis, mailing list management, and donor/prospect research and relationship management. The Database Manager is responsible for supporting the critical mission of the Development Office by maintaining its database. The manager will administer and oversee multiple direct mail projects, data cleaning, integration with the web site and other databases, statistical reporting and analysis, mailing list management, and donor/prospect research and relationship management. Primary Responsibilities:
    • Participate in the annual appeal program, including strategies to incorporate alumni groups, e-mail campaigns, giving societies, focus on new donors and increasing average gift amounts.
    • Be a lead member in converting a database of 6,000+ alumni and friends to annual supporters.
    • Work closely with the Associate Director of Development and other staff to develop fundraising strategies and integrate with campus-wide and alumni initiatives.
    • Be the key liaison to Technology to resolve database integration and operational issues.
    • Be the key liaison to the Business office for managing gifts and other transactions.
    • Plan and implement multiple direct mail appeals annually with the Annual Fund and Campaigns teams, with a high degree of customization and emotional appeal. This involves working with printers, mail-fulfillment vendors, post office and key development staff. Work with the Associate Director of Development.
    • Serve as an active prospect identifier, targeting prospects for personal visits and movie annual donors through the donor pyramid into the next giving level. Make creative connections between and among people, events, programs, and their associated circles.
    • Oversee the daily operation of the Development Database (Raiser’s Edge), which tracks gift/financial and biographical information on alumni, friends, and donors.
    • Oversee the seasonal operation of the Auction database and assist volunteers in their training and use for various events/activities.
    • Provides support to staff by assisting with creation of reports and mailing lists, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and serving as the Development liaison with the Business Office and IT.
    • Coordinate future data conversions/upgrades as needed.
    • Develop and maintain efficient systems for ensuring data integrity, including data entry, gift processing, prospect research, and relationship management.
    • Oversee progress, deadlines, goals and objectives related to the Development office and responsibilities.
    • Provide excellent customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
     Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree required and three to five years of experience in direct mail and managing a complex database.
    • Advanced working knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge.
    • Possess knowledge of fundraising principles and practices and maintain a professional, polished demeanor.
    • Detail-oriented and with strong analytical and data management skills.
    • Aptitude for the management and effective use of information systems in support of a development program.
    • Initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities.
    • Excellent organization skills with an ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
    • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a team member.
    • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy in data.
    • Be able to work in an environment of constant demands and frequent interruptions.
    • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe). Proficiency and experience with information technology and basic accounting principles.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and to promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and have positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
    • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral that transcend diverse audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities
    • Be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
