We're in the middle of a telethon campaign, and we're receiving requests for constituents to be opted out of fundraising contact, but keep informed of alumni and other promotional literature.
How have you handled this in the past?

We have a similar situation with our telethon for alumns. We handle this with solicit codes - we have three main ones: Do Not Mail, Do Not Telephone, Do Not Solicit. In your situation, we apply Do Not Telephone and/or Do Not Solicit (based on the situation.)
It has worked really well so far, as we include the Do Not Telephone when we run alumni/promotional materials.
