    Transaction Date on Recurring Gifts

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone out there will be able to help with some recurring gift issues I'm having. Last month, as we were committing a batch for our monthly recurring gift transactions (recurring Gifts-Pay Cash) Raiser's crashed. We had about 30K gifts in the batch and 20K had already committed before the crash. We can't erase gifts for audit purposes, so we adjusted the 20K that had committed to $0 and recommited the batch. This meant that the second gifts on the 20K records had a gift date in October but a transaction date of November (since there were 2 gifts) so we globally rolled back the gift date so that all of the monthly gifts for November will generate transactions in the new gift batch.

Everything seemed to be okay, but as I went to import some amendments to those gifts for upgrade calls from a third party we use, I got the error message that they couldn't be imported because the start date was before the last transaction date (which still shows up as November even though the next transaction date is November b/c of the rollback.) There are several hundred gifts so manually changes are out of the question, and the only option I can see is exporting the gift information as importing new active recurring gifts and changing the status of the old recurring gift to terminated. That makes the database a little messy however and will affect our reporting on monthly giving by inflating some of the old inactive gift numbers so I'm just wondering has any suggestions or experience in changing the scheduled date (not gift date) in a recurring gift transaction.

     Thanks,

    Shannon
