    Changing existing ConstituentIDs

ConstituentIDs in our system are not all the same length and some of them begin with several zeroes. For the sake of simple convenience, I would like to delete the zeroes, that way if I am working with the constituent IDs in Excel, I won't have to spend my time convincing Excel not to drop the leading zeroes.

Has anybody done an import of Constituent IDs for existing constituents, identifying existing constituents by their ImportID?

Seems like it could be very easy, but then again.... Lightning

Hi, Julian. It looks like you're on the right track according to BB59022: How to globally add, change, or reassign constituent ID numbers. Just remember to specify to use the Import ID to recognize existing constituents (on the General tab), and list the Import ID column before the Constituent ID column. Also, you may want to start with a test import using one or two records from the larger import file so you can confirm it works before changing all of the records. Hope this helps!
