I have a user with a new laptop, but working in the GL for her is slower than either her old desktop or a coworker's desktop that is several years old.  I am torn between user error and hardware issues, but the prospect of resolving either of those is slim.

Her laptop works at normal speed when undocked (the only performance issue she has is with FE) but when she uses her docking station it slows down considerably - from a 7 to 10-second response to a calculation to a wait of anywhere between 30 seconds to a minute.  I delete her docked hardware profile, and when she docks the next time FE is fine - but by the next day it is slowed down again.  I believe the problem lies in the way she docks & undocks, but without standing by her desk 24x7 there's no way to confirm this, and definitely no way to control it.  So, I am requesting a new docking station from the manufacturer; hopefully there is some obscure hardware issue with the current docking station. 

In the meantime, I would like to find out if there is any type of database reindexing tool available from Blackbaud - some way to try and speed up the database in general.  Perhaps something like that would solve the problem - if there's any way to do that, sort of like a defrag for the database.

Is anyone aware of such a tool?  I'm new to supporting Blackbaud applications and still feeling my way around the website - I've gone to the KnowledgeBase page, but to my dismay Financial Edge is not even in the list of applications for me to search for!!  What's up with that??

All of the database maintenance tools can be found in the Blackbaud Management Console (BMC) on the server.  Take a look at Knowledgebase solution BB200906 for the available tasks and steps to complete them.  Also, if you have a generic FE question select General Ledger as the product.  The Financial Edge is considered the umbrella name for the financial product suite which is why it is not available in the list.
