    Organization: Children's Hospital Boston

    Position: Associate Director of Technical Services

    Description: Reporting to the Director of Information Management and Technology, the Associate Director of Technology Services provides leadership and oversight to three key functions in support of the Trust enterprise: 1) system administration; 2) asset management; 3) IT vendor and consultant management.

    Systems Administration

     Supervises the day-to-day administration of Trust systems and desktop technologies; monitors installation of new software releases, system upgrades and the evaluation and installation of patches; manages the support function including direct supervision of helpdesk staff. Ensures appropriate audit systems and documentation are maintained to comply with the Trust and Hospital’s regulatory environment and overall information technology (IT) best practices.

    Asset Management

    Manages the inventory management function by overseeing the maintenance of records and databases containing procurement budgets, user profiles, inventory, licenses, warranties, and service agreements related to the organization's hardware and software. Minimizes organizational cost through product standardization, integration and tracking. Tracks quality throughout the product life cycle.

    Vendor and Consultant Management

    Manages the outsourcing process for the organization's IT department including service level agreements (SLA) with both internal staff support and external vendors. Serves as the project manager on technical initiatives with broad oversight and administrative responsibility over the budget, task tracking and work product delivery of external vendors. Oversees the process of vendor evaluation as well as the coordination of project budgets, scopes of work, purchase contracts or service level agreements. Acts as the de facto quality manager for all projects and products; handling problems with vendors or products as necessary in the performance of this duty.
