I may be starting, soon, at a non profit that uses raisers edge and would like to use my off time to "play around" with the product - is there any place AI could get a trial version or eval copy somehow?

 There isn't a trial version I'm aware of. Probably your best bet would be to browse as much of the info here as much as you can, although it's a poor substitute for actually using the software.
