Hello, Is It Me You're Looking For?
Lionel Richie fans sing Hello while dancing on the ceiling. Sharing phone numbers can make it easier to find what you're looking for because when you share phone numbers, you update one record and it updates all linked numbers. For example, updating a shared phone number on a student record will update the shared phone number on the parent record.
Notes:
- You must link addresses on records to share their phone numbers .
- To prevent sharing specific phone types (such as email addresses or cell phones), you can define specific phone types as Cannot be Shared.
- If you link addresses after entering phone numbers, be aware that the program links phone numbers based on phone type, not number. For example, if a student and parent have different home phone numbers and you choose to share the home phone from the student's record, the parent's home phone is overwritten with the student's home phone.
To share phone numbers on linked addresses:
- In Records, open one of the records containing the phone number to share.
- Select the Addresses tab, and open the appropriate address.
- In the Contact Type grid, select Shared in the Link? column for each appropriate contact type and number.
- Click OK to save and close record.
You can also run the Mark Phones As Shared plug-in, which will mark all non-shared phone numbers as shared on records with linked addresses.
