Let's start at the beginning...

An Image of Robert McAllenSo a new  blog and a new area for thoughts and discussions.  This is my second Blackbaud blog after my short run of blog posts at last years conference on the conference central website.  I'm very excited to be running this blog and hope that through here I can keep people up to speed on new internet product improvements and new industry changes that'll affect our BBNC, Netsolutions and Sphere users.

I've worked with Blackbaud now for almost 10 years (in fact my 10 yr anniversary is on 22nd Nov) and I've been around various areas of the company.  I started in 1999 as a support analyst for the Raiser's Edge in our (much smaller) offices in Kinning Park on the south side of Glasgow.  Since then we've moved to larger premises in the city centre of Glasgow before opening and expanding our London head quarters - I'm still based in Glasgow though.  In that time I moved on from support to become a trainer for RE, followed by working as a consultant for RE and the Information Edge.

When we launched Netcommunity in the UK I was handed the task of running the Early Adopter Programme and we've gone on to have over 80 clients for this product to date (with many more implementing this year).  I became the Prinicpal consultant in the UK for TIE and for BBNC before moving back into support as the Product Lead for Europe.  Finally after much moving I've come to rest as the Program Manager (UK Product Manager) for Internet.  I'll be using this blog to make sure that we can cut through some of the techie speak that surrounds the products and to try to show where we can use new tools and product area such as Twitter or our own new content optimisation piece (which is exciting me greatly just now).

Well I hope that was a decent introduction and I'm looking forward to feedeback on my comments on these pages.  Let me know what you think and if you like it let me know!
