One of the best places to work (we think it's THE best)
We got some big news a week or two ago. Really big news.
Blackbaud was named one of the top 25 places to work in South Carolina. Looking at the data a little closer, we were one of seven in the "large company" category. In early October, overall winners will be announced for both the small-to-medium-sized and the large categories.
Regardless of what happens in October, I have to say that I am really proud to be a part of such a great place, and I didn't have to go through an official survey or assessment process to know that Blackbaud was tops. I wouldn't have committed more the 18 years of my career to this company, this brand, the nonprofit market and these wonderful customers if Blackbaud wasn't something special.
When we heard that news about being a finalist, which resulted from a process that included both company provided information (kudos to LeAnn Logue who led this effort) and a direct survey of more than 350 randomly selected employees, there was a buzz here on Daniel Island. I asked some of my colleagues for their thoughts, and here's what they said...
"I come to work and am challenged and encouraged by my colleagues and leaders. My hard work is appreciated and rewarded, and my failures are approached constructively. At Blackbaud, I have opportunities for growth, flexibility from my managers, and gratitude from amazing clients whose missions I love supporting. My colleagues have become a family away from my family and are a large part of my happiness here." Anna, Customer Support
"For me, it's the opportunity to work with nonprofits, if indirectly most of the time. I can go home each day knowing that, as corny as it might sound, I did help make the world a better place. Professionally, the work environment offers challenge and there are a lot of opportunities to excel. If you are creative and invested, you can have a great career here." Andy, Products
"Blackbaud practices what they preach. I have a chronically ill son. To most companies, this would be a major strike against me as an employee due to the time needed away from work. In my four years at Blackbaud, all of my managers and THEIR managers have supported me, encouraged me and even helped me to fundraise for my son's disease organization. Blackbaud understands that their employees have commitments outside of the office and helps us to achieve all of our goals." Caroline, Professional Services
Reading these comments makes me smile. I know why I'm passionate about this place. You share in that passion every time you read this blog and hear me talking about giving back, service to others, driving sustainable change...being good citizens. I am so fortunate to not only work here, but also to represent how the company makes a difference. Hearing my colleagues say what they feel and why they choose to work here makes what I feel even more special. It makes us all a part of a really good community.
Thank you to the S.C. Chamber of Commerce, the Society for Human Resource Management-S.C. State Council, SCJobMarket.com and SC Biz News LLC for recognizing us. We're really proud and hope the community is proud of us, too.
