You can import email addresses into the Blackbaud NetCommunity Fundraiser Address book from various email programs such as Outlook, Yahoo, and Gmail. To
import (BB491948) into the address book, you need the First Name, Last Name, and Email address fields formatted in a CSV file. Let's take a look at exporting out of each program:
From Microsoft Outlook:
- Select File, Import and Export from the Outlook action bar.
- In the Choose and Action to Perform field, select Export to File, and then click Next.
- Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next.
- Select the Contacts folder. Click Next.
- Browse to the location where your export file will save and name your export file and then click Next.
- Click Map Custom Fields beside the following actions will be performed field. Click Map Custom Fields.
- Click Clear Map, and drag First Name, Last Name, and Email Address from the From box to the To box. Click OK and Finish.
From Yahoo!:
- In the Yahoo! mail screen, click Options and then select Mail Options.
- In the left navigation bar, click Contact Options.
- Click Import/Export in the Management box.
- Under the Export section, click Yahoo! CSV.
- Save the export to a location on your workstation
- Open the yahoo_ab.csv file. Rename cell A1 to First Name, cell to C1 Last Name, and cell E1 to Email Address.
- Click the top left cell to select the entire spreadsheet, and then select Data, Filter, AutoFilter from the action bar.
- Select (NonBlanks) in the dropdown for the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address columns.
- Select the entire spreadsheet and press Ctrl+C on your keyboard to copy it.
- Press Ctrl+N to open a new worksheet and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the copied cells.
- Save this spreadsheet as your import spreadsheet and use it in your import.
From Gmail:
- In the Gmail mail page, clic Contacts on the left navigation bar.
- Click Export in the top right corner.
- Select to export all contacts or only one group.
- Select Outlook CSV and then click Export Contacts.
- Save the file to your workstation
- Open the Excel file. Because Gmail does not separate the contact name into first name and last name columns, you must separate the columns:
- Insert a new column between A and column B.
- Highlight column A and select Data, Text to Columns from the action bar.
- Select Delimited as the file type and then click Next.
- Mark Space as the Delimiter. Click Next, and then click Finish
- Rename cell A1 as First Name, B1 as Last Name, and C1 as Email Address.
- Save the spreadsheet and use it in your import.
