Tired of Mouse Clicks?

Are you tired of switching between your mouse and keyboard during data entry such as adding transactions or new records?  If so, this time saver is for you!  There are keyboard shortcuts for common tasks like opening help files, saving records, and moving between fields.  These keyboard shortcuts not only save you mouse clicks, they save you time by speeding up data entry allowing you to get to other tasks quicker.

Let's take a look at some common keyboard shortcuts:

  • F1 to open the help file
  • F3 to insert the current date into a date field
  • F7 to access lookup tables (e.g., Employee tab Ethnicity field)
  • F4 to see a drop-down list
  • Ctrl + O to open a record
  • Ctrl + S to save a record
  • Ctrl + L to save and close a record
  • Tab to move to the next field and Shift + Tab to move back to the previous field
  • The spacebar to mark a checkbox when tabbing through fields
  • Alt + Tab to toggle between all open windows
  • Alt + [underlined letter on that tab] to move between tabs on an employee record (e.g., Alt + M for the Statements tab)
