&lt;p&gt;Millard shares four rules that make these partnerships work:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1. Start with a simple project, and get more complex later. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2. Get leadership and directives from the top, but involve support staff and vendors.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3. Be sensitive to cultural issues that come with process changes.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4. Keep the agreement formal in group structure and policies.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
